About - The Long Island Finger Style Guitar Club
The Long
Island Fingerstyle Guitar Club was formed in February 2008 with a goal of providing
a forum where fingerstyle guitarists can become
part of a community to network, trade and play songs, and
to learn more about the acoustic guitar. The club is for players
of all levels.
Every
month we host an Open Mic Night so
that players have the opportunity to perform in an unpressured,
supportive environment. All of our meeting are open to the
general public.
In addition we hold workshops and concerts. The workshops
focus on a particular style of playing (blues, celtic, folk,
hawaiian, jazz, ragtime, etc.). Players of all levels are invited to bring their guitars
and share their skills, stories and tips with your fellow
players
( you do not have to play if you are not comfortable).
Meeting are held once a month at the Westbury
Friends Community Center, 550 Post Ave. in Westbury,
NY (please check calendar for dates and times). You can also sign up on our e-mail list
to keep posted on upcoming meetings and events. Doors open
at 7:30pm and meetings start promptly at 8:00pm.
