Welcome
to The Long Island Fingerstyle Guitar Club.
This website lists information about our monthly meetings
and guitar related events that may be of interest to
our members. The LIFGC is a way to connect
with other guitarists so that you can learn and grow in
the art of acoustic guitar playing.
The Long
Island Fingerstyle Guitar Club
was formed in February 2008 with a goal of providing
a forum where fingerstyle guitarists can become
part of a community to network, trade and play songs, and
to learn more about the acoustic guitar. The club is for players
of all levels.
Monthly meetings will start off with a presenter who will
focus on a particular style of playing (blues, celtic, folk,
hawaiian, etc.). After the performance there will be a workshop. After
the presentation the group will have informal break out sessions.
Players of all levels are invited to bring their guitars
and share their skills, stories and tips with your fellow
players ( you do not have to play if you are not comfortable).
Every
other month we host an Open Mic Night so
that players have the opportunity to perform in an unpressured,
supportive environment. All of our meeting are open to the
general public.
Meeting are held once a month at the Westbury
Friends Community Center, 550 Post Ave. in Westbury,
NY (please check calendar
for dates and times). You can also sign up on our e-mail list
to keep posted on upcoming meetings and events. Doors open
at 7:30pm and meetings start promptly at 8:00pm.
